  대순진리회의 친구들에게,
  말의 해를 맞이하여 여러분 모두께 번영과 축복이 가득한 새해 인사를 기쁜 마음으로 전합니다.
  저는 오랜 기간에 걸쳐 여러분과 인연을 이어오고 있습니다. 2017년에 대순진리회를 처음으로 방문했고, 같은 해 봄에 대순진리회의 몇 분께서 저의 소속 대학인 프랑스 보르도 대학을 방문해 주셨습니다. 이후 우리는 한국에서, 또 여러 국제 종교 학술대회에서 만나며 교류를 이어왔습니다.
  2025년 10월은 저희 부부에게 특히 뜻깊은 시간이었습니다. 먼저 저는 대진대학교에서 주최한 제4회 상생포럼에 초청되어 발표할 수 있는 영광을 누렸습니다. 이어서 남편과 저는 여러분의 배려로 여러 날 동안 머물며 ‘상생스테이’를 경험할 수 있었습니다. 이는 참으로 특별하고 소중한 시간이었습니다.
  저는 대순진리회의 학자들과 오랜 시간에 걸쳐 교리와 의례에 대해 깊이 있는 토론을 나누었고, 여러 의례에도 직접 참여할 수 있었습니다. 더 나아가 대순진리회에 대한 이해를 가장 따뜻하고도 풍요롭게 넓혀주시고자, 강증산 상제님의 탄강지를 방문하는 일정을 마련해 주셨습니다. 우리는 함께 상제님께 예를 올리며, 이 성지가 앞으로 어떻게 가꾸어질지를 상상해 보았습니다.
  또한 강증산 상제님의 탄강지 인근의 동학농민운동이 태동한 지역을 함께 둘러보았고, 강증산 상제님께서 영으로 30년간 머무르셨던 불상이 있는 금산사를 방문하였습니다. 이 모든 사실을 이미 알고 있었지만, 두 장소를 직접 눈으로 보고 체험한 감동은 말로 다 할 수 없을 만큼 깊고 인상적이었습니다. 제 마음속에 오래도록 간직될 소중한 기억으로 남을 것입니다.
  이제 몇 주 후에는 대순진리회 두 분께서 보르도로 와서 성모 마리아를 기리는 프랑스 가톨릭 의례와 관음 신앙의 불교 의례를 비교 연구할 예정입니다. 또한 종교학 석사 과정과 한국학과 학생들을 대상으로 대순진리회에 관한 강연도 진행할 계획입니다. 이는 우리의 우정과 학술적 교류를 한층 더 굳건히 하는 계기가 될 것입니다.
  설날을 맞아 다시 한 번 진심 어린 축원을 전합니다. 새해에도 여러분 모두 안심 안신하고, 여러분의 수도가 스스로에게는 물론 주변 이들에게도 만족과 풍요를 안겨주는 길이 되기를 기원합니다. 그리고 그동안 저희를 위해 베풀어 주신 모든 정성과 배려에 깊은 감사를 전합니다.

  Dear friends of Daesoon Jinrihoe
  It is with great pleasure that my husband Jean and I, Bernadette, send you our best wishes for a prosperous Year of the Horse.
  We have now known you all for many years. I started coming to visit you in 2017 and some of you also came to visit my university in Bordeaux in the Spring of 2017. We then met many times, either in South Korea, or at different international conferences on religions.
  October of 2025 was particularly rich for us all: first I was invited to speak at the Fourth Sangsaeng Forum that you organized at Daejin University. Then you invited my husband and I to remain several days in your facilities to enjoy the Sangsaeng stay. This was a unique moment in time. First, we could spend long hours debating with your scholars on your doctrines and rituals and we attended several of them. Then, to complement in a most friendly and enriching manner my learning about Daesoon Jinrihoe, you offered us a long trip to visit the birth place of Sangje Kang Jeungsan. Together we paid our respect to Him and imagined how this holy site was going to be turned into a real sanctuary in the coming years. Then you took us to visit the surroundings of his birth place, where the Donghak Peasant Revolution was born. At the end of the afternoon, we visited the extraordinary Geumsansa Temple to see the Buddha statue in which Kang remained for 30 years to prepare for His spiritual mission. I knew about all this, but seeing these two sites with my own eyes was most moving and impressive. This is a visit that I will always cherish.
  Now, in a few weeks, two friends of your group are coming to stay with us here in Bordeaux in order to conduct research on a comparison between French Catholic rituals in honor of the Virgin Mary and the Buddhist rituals for Ganyin. They will also give talks on Daesoon Jinrihoe to some of our students at the university both in the Religious studies Master program and in the Korean studies department. This will seal our friendly exchanges even more strongly.
  Jean and myself send you our best wishes for Seollal. May the New Year keep you in good health and good spirit. May your spiritual quest remain satisfying and enriching, for yourselves and for all the people around you. And receive our gratitude for all you have accomplished for us.

  설날을 맞이하여, 베트남 타이닌 대성전(Tây Ninh Holy See) 까오다이 성직자회의 의장이신 쯔엉 땀 타잉(Thuong Tam Thanh) 추기경을 비롯하여, 베트남 및 해외 까오다이 선교단의 성직자들을 대표해 대순진리회 여러분께 평화와 새로움이 가득한 새해 인사를 드립니다.
  설날은 인류와 사회, 그리고 우주 간의 조화로운 관계를 가꾸어야 할 공동의 책임을 되돌아보게 합니다. 지속적인 종교적ㆍ학문적 대화를 통해 우리는 도덕적 수양과 영적 치유, 그리고 더욱 자비로운 세상의 실현이라는 공통점을 알게 되었습니다. 앞으로도 종교 간 교류와 학술적 협력이 계속 이어져 상호 이해를 더욱 깊게 하고 세계 평화에 기여하기를 희망합니다.
  특히, 대순진리회 윤은도 원장과 대순진리회의 모든 분께 건강과 행복, 장수와 번영이 함께 하기를 진심으로 기원하며, 무엇보다도 구천상제님의 덕화가 충만하기를 바랍니다.
  다가오는 새해가 모두에게 지혜와 균형, 그리고 번영을 가져다주기를 기원합니다. 

Tran Canh: Former President of the Cao Dai Overseas Missionary

  HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR 2026 TO DAESOON JINRIHOE
  On the occasion of Seollal,  on behalf of H.E Cardinal Thuong Tam Thanh, Chairman of the Cao Dai Sacerdotal Council at the Tay Ninh Holy See, as well as dignitaries in Viet Nam and Cao Dai Overseas Missionary, we extend our warmest greetings and best wishes for peace and renewal to Daesoon Jinrihoe and the Korean people. 
  The Lunar New Year offers an opportunity to reflect on our shared responsibility to cultivate harmony between humanity, society, and the cosmos. Through ongoing religious and scholarly dialogue, we recognize a common aspiration toward moral cultivation, spiritual healing, and the realization of a more compassionate world.
  We hope that continued interreligious exchange and academic cooperation may deepen mutual understanding and contribute meaningfully to peace in the world.   이번 방문에서 한국 동료들로부터 얻은 통찰과 대진대 학생들의 따뜻한 환대, 그리고 함께한 경험들 덕분에 한국이라는 나라가 문화적ㆍ종교적으로 생동감 넘치면서도 현대성과 전통이 조화를 이루는 곳이라는 인상을 받았습니다. 종교학자이자 미술 이론가로서 학술대회 기간 중 여주본부도장의 건축적ㆍ미학적 장엄함을 직접 체험할 수 있었던 것은 더없이 특별한 특권이자 값진 배움이었습니다.
  이번 방문을 통해 저는 대순진리회의 철학, 즉 해원상생에 대한 이해를 한층 더 깊이 할 수 있었습니다. 또한 도장에서 수도인들의 친절한 안내는 자칫 지나칠 수 있었던 세부적인 부분들을 명확히 해주었고 여러 흥미로운 문화적 공통점들을 알게 했습니다.
  이처럼 소중한 기억들이 아직도 생생합니다. 한국의 친구들과 동료 여러분, 특히 대순진리회 모든 분께 알차고 의미 있고 번영이 가득한 새해가 되기를 진심으로 기원합니다. 머지않은 미래에 다시 만나 뵐 수 있기를 고대합니다.

  Dear Friends,
  With the arrival of the Year of the Horse, I wish all my friends at Daesoon Jinrihoe an energetic, joyful, and creative New Year. Among last year"s new ventures, the most joyful was my visit to Korea and the opportunity to see Daejin University and Daesoon Jinrihoe"s Yejou Headquarters. I am confident that the valuable friendships and collaborations we started during the 4th World SangSaeng Forum International Conference will grow in the coming year. The insights from my Korean colleagues, the welcoming spirit of the local students, and the shared experiences during this visit shaped my first impression of this culturally and religiously vibrant, modern yet traditionally rooted country. As a scholar of religions and an art theorist, experiencing the architectural and aesthetic grandeur of the Yejou Temple complex during the conference"s extracurricular trips was an exceptional privilege and learning opportunity. The visit allowed me to deepen my understanding of the materialized philosophy of Daesoon Jinrihoe"s resolution of grievances and the reciprocation of gratitude into mutual beneficence, or Haewon sangsaeng. The guidance from our valued friends at the Yejou Temple complex also clarified several minor details and revealed a great deal of exciting cultural parallels I might otherwise have missed. With these cherished memories still fresh, I wish my friends and colleagues in Korea, especially at Daesoon Jinrihoe, a productive, meaningful, and prosperous New Year. I look forward to us meeting again in the foreseeable future!

  학생들과 함께 한국을 방문했을 때, 저는 ‘정(情)’의 진정한 의미를 몸소 느낄 수 있었습니다. 정이란 단순한 사랑을 넘어 함께한 경험과 배려, 그리고 시간이 쌓아 올린 깊은 유대에서 비롯되는 것이라 들었습니다. 치성에 참여하고, 그 후 함께 음식을 나누는 순간 속에서 저는 결코 잊지 못할 깊은 정을 경험했습니다.
  그 신성한 공간에서 저는 감사와 겸손, 그리고 진실한 마음이 어떻게 시련을 성장으로 바꾸고, 낯선 이를 가족으로 변화시키는지를 보았습니다. 대순진리회로부터 받은 환대는 지금도 제 마음속에 남아 있으며, 그것은 제가 영성과 공동체, 그리고 ‘함께함’의 진정한 의미를 이해하는 방식에 깊은 영향을 주었습니다.
  새해를 맞아, 감사로 가득한 마음과 성실함이 이끄는 삶, 그리고 원한을 해소하고 세상과 조화를 이루고자 하는 새로워진 다짐을 함께 이어가기를 기원합니다. 문화와 거리를 넘어 우리를 잇는 정이 앞으로도 계속 이어지기를 바랍니다.

  As the New Year begins, I send my heartfelt greetings and gratitude to the Daesoon Jinrihoe community.
  When I visited Korea with my students, I felt the true meaning of 정 (Jeong). I have heard it defined as something deeper than love, a bond formed through shared experience, care, and enduring connection. During the chiseong ceremony, and in the simple act of sharing food together afterward, I felt this 깊은 정(deep sense of Jeong) in a way I will never forget.
  In that sacred space, I witnessed how gratitude, humility, and sincerity can transform hardship into growth and strangers into family. The warmth I received from the Daesoon community continues to live in my heart, and it has shaped how I understand spirituality, community, and what it means to truly be together.
  As we welcome the New Year, may we carry forward hearts filled with gratitude, lives guided by sincerity, and a renewed commitment to resolving resentment and bringing harmony to the world. May the spirit of 정 continue to connect us across cultures and distances.
  Wishing everyone in the Daesoon Jinrihoe community a year of health, peace, and deepened spiritual joy.

  대순진리회의 도인분들께서 매달 본부에 보낸 성금의 4분의 3이 구호자선, 사회복지, 그리고 교육을 위해 사용되고 있다는 이야기를 들었습니다. 이는 귀 종단이 교리를 말에 그치지 않고 실제 행동으로 실천하고 있음을 보여주는 부분이라 하겠습니다. 실제 그 규모와 영향력을 고려할 때, 귀 종단의 활동은 한국의 그 어떤 종교보다도 큰 사회적 영향력을 지니고 있다고 평가할 수 있을 것입니다.

You thus claim that you put your doctrines into action; indeed, if scale is taken into account, your activities are more influential than those of any other religion in Korea.
